Abstract:
This paper x-rays the use of non-formal education and rehabilitation theories in rehabilitating
c_ommercial sex workers in Sokoto State, Nigeria. It begins with an overview of rehabilitation
situational analysis of commercial sex workers in Sokoto State and goes further to discuss nonformal
education in the context of rehabilitation. Some rehabilitation theories are also examined,
and their implications to rehabilitation of commercial sex workers are highlighted. The paper
concludes that to better reach out to commercial sex workers rehabilitatively, efforts must be
comprehensive, friendly, need and theory-based. It recommends among others that non-formal
educators should popularize the use of theory-based rehabilitation programmes through writing
and advocacy for it to be embraced by the government and non-governmental organisations for
better rehabilitation of commercial sex workers
