The Nigerian society has witnessed and still witnessing several violent conflicts stemming from religious, political, ethnic and economic reasons with varied negative implications for national integration and sustainable development. The paper therefore, examines the relationship between peaceful coexistence and national development and fa ctors responsible for lack of peaceful coexistence in Nigeria. The paper concludes that adult educators can use their virile adult education provisions such as peace education, human rights education, concentization programme, citizenship education, functional literacy, liberal education and tolerance education to restore peaceful coexistence in Nigeria en_US
