Abstract:
This research explores the impact of
counselling services in improving academic performances
as perceived by teachers and students in senior secondary
schools of Kebbi State, Nigeria. For the study, a sample of
317 students and 183 teachers (N = 500) from public
secondary schools in Kebbi state were selected from a
population of N = 107, 289. The study utilizes the
descriptive design and an instrument developed by the
researchers was used in collecting data. Formulated
hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Using
independent-samples t-test statistic, results indicated that
both the teachers and the students affirmed that
counselling services are very important in improving
students’ academic performance.
