The oil and gas industry relies heavily on the seamless and secure operation of pipelines to transport valuable resources. In this context, the integration of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies offers the potential to enhance monitoring systems, providing real-time insights and data-driven decision-making. This study presents a novel framework for IoT-based oil and gas pipeline monitoring, designed to bolster security, data accuracy, and operational efficiency. The framework encompasses strategic sensor placement, a rotational cluster head selection scheme, efficient data aggregation, and robust data encryption using the ASCON-128 Cipher. By strategically positioning IoT sensors and employing advanced data aggregation techniques, redundant data transmission is minimized, significantly improving the accuracy and efficiency of data collection. Additionally, the rotational cluster head selection scheme optimizes power consumption, extending the operational lifespan of IoT devices. While this framework is currently in the conceptual phase, it holds great promise for addressing industry-specific challenges. Future work should focus on practical implementations, security protocol development, performance evaluations, scalability assessments, user authentication enhancements, and system integration.

The study investigates family size as correlate of academic performance among senior secondary school students in Sokoto metropolis using correlational research design. The population of the study comprised of 8,185 students. The study uses a sample of 365 SS I students. Two research instruments; Family Size Questionnaire (FSQ) and Academic Performance Test in English (APTIE) and Mathematics (APTIM) are used for data collection. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested. Also, Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used to test the hypotheses. The findings reveal positive significant relationship between family size and academic performance. It concludes that family size is a determinant of students’ academic performance. The study therefore recommends that parents should try to keep a family that their socio-economic status can maintain.

This paper examined Application of theory of Anne Roe of vocational development in rebranding secondary school students’ choice of career in Nigerian education system. Being one of the first model to show the link between childhood events, it has received a lot of attention when it comes to showing psychological needs with career choices. The paper looked into the basics of the vocational development theory by discussing how individuals are integrated entities whose categorization should be based on both his conscious and unconscious need patterns. Relevant literatures reviewed point to the fact the theory’s applicability is very vital in helping individuals to choose careers and progress in them. The paper further conversed on how the theory classified parenting rearing practices into being protective and preventive, avoidant and/or accepting and how these are consequent upon career orientation. Moreover, the paper discourse also centered on how the main postulations of the theory could be applied to rebrand secondary school education in Nigeria for example by how the counselor should enable parent gain awareness on the implication of not meeting the psychological and physical needs of the child as they may end up lacking value; and also, how the counsellor should educate parents and clients in understanding why people have different interest to a particular occupation. Finally, the paper revealed that proper application of the vocational development theory would significantly influence students to developed self-concept, self-esteem, and interest to the world work. It therefore recommended that parents should guide the choice of career of their children rather than determine what it is to be and that there should be consultation between parent and the child with the counsellor in order to make meaningful choices in careers.

Retirement is an inevitable phase of life that all those engaged in paid labour have to face at a certain time, as such planning for it should
be unavoidable also. Many times, workers experience fears when approaching retirement period for the simple reason that they did not plan
for it; workers in Usmanu Danfodiyo University are not any different. Thus, the study investigated how retirement planning influenced
retirement anxiety among the staff. Using descriptive survey, the study utilizes purposely sampled staff who retired and those who are about
to (N = 31). An adapted version of Preretirement Planning Questionnaire was used to collect data, which was analyzed by using chisquare
and independent t-test analysis. Results indicated that planning for retirement positively influence retirement anxiety among the
staff, and also that there was no difference in how the academic staff plan for retirement or how they experienced anxiety over retirement
from that of the non-academic staff. Among the recommendations made was that employees in the university should plan ahead for the
inevitable date of their retirements; in this way they would greatly reduce or altogether avoid feelings of concerns that may be a source of
anxiety. One of the implications for career counselling is to employ adequate counselling approaches so that employees in the university
should be empowered to plan ahead for the inevitable date of their retirements; in this way they would greatly reduce or altogether avoid
feelings of concerns that may be a source of anxiety.
