Abstract:
The nutrient coriJpqsition of some green leafy vegetables constm8d
in Sokota was investigated. Of those studied, Brassica int&gl1fo11a
(KII~I) was found.Jo have the highest crude protein content (21.5
:t 0.7%); TaJinum triangulare (Gural) has the highest contenta01uh
(28.0:t 1.1%), while highest sodium and potassium contents '"""
seen in COrchorus olitorius (Ayayyo) (301.0 + 1.0 mg/1oo g) and
(505.0 :t. 2.5 mg/1oo g) respectively. Amaranthus caudatua
(Ala/yafo) has the highest calcium, iron and magnesium contanta
(19.0 :t 5.0, 325.0 :t 0.5 and 1020 :t 2.5 mg/1oo' g) respectively;
while the highest phytic acid content was fOund in Monnga oIeifera
(Zog.'.) (200.00 :t 2.5 mg/1oo gJ Highest phosphorous content
was obtained in Talinum triangulare.
